Raleigh is in North Carolina, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. Getting around Raleigh is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across North Carolina's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

My favorite City of Raleigh park. I planted several trees in this park a few years and they are lovely to revisit. This park has delightful horticultural interest. Most of these photos were taken in 2018 when I worked with the city's very finest crew on D4 park maintenance.
